The New Neighbour – Part 2

Ankit did as I said and the plan worked. She waved back at Ankit. I got back to my bed, and my warm blanket to watch Ankit talk to her in the sign language.

After 10 minutes Ankit woke me up and said that he was leaving.

“The sign conversation over?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m getting late!” He said.

“So? What’s new? Your teachers must be used to it. Aren’t they?” I said.

“Fuck off man!” He said and ran away.

I laughed and got up from the bed.

Ankit came in the evening and sat on bed without uttering anything.

“What happened dude?” I asked.

“You know that girl in my batch I had a crush on?” He said.

“Shweta?” I replied.

“Yeah. She broke up with her boyfriend two weeks ago.” He said.

“What the fuck dude? Why are you upset then? Talk to her no!” I almost shouted in excitement.

“She got into another relationship last week.” He said in a low tone.

Silence prevailed for a few moments and then my laughter broke it.

“What the hell man! You are laughing?” He said.

A Heart Breaking Love Story : One Sided Lover

“What else should I do?” I said while laughing, “It is a very common scene these days. And why are you focusing on someone who isn’t interested in you? Put in your efforts for the girl on the first floor!” And I pointed out towards the building on the opposite side of the road.

“Yeah! You’re right!” He said and I got happy to see his face lighten up. Ankit and I were together for 7 years then, and I knew him more than he did for himself. He was 21, but still a kid. Little things made him upset and then the very next moment little things could make him laugh out loud. He always needed to be taken huge care of!

Next morning when I woke up, I saw Ankit changing his shirt again and again and then going back to the window and he finally agreed on the white shirt.

“What are you doing dude?” I asked.

“She didn’t liked any of these shirts.” He replied.

A face palm moment for me.
“Damn! Why are you my best friend!” I said and went back to sleep.

Later in the evening he came back to the room upset.

“What happened today?” I asked.

“I went to her flat. She wasn’t there. It was locked.” He said.

“So what? She might be out somewhere! Ask her tomorrow morning.” I said.

“Yeah. You’re right!” His mood lit up.

That Day

I was stunned looking at the letter which read,
Dear stranger,
This is your friend from the first floor of the building across the road. I guess you don’t know me. And actually I never knew myself too. I wasn’t a human but a price, 2000 for an hour, 5000 for an evening and 10000 for a whole night. I roam around the whole country with this man of 52 who bought me from my father throwing 50000 on his face, when I was just 13. From then, I am going wherever he takes me. Till last week, I never thought I was alive. I was just a piece of fair mass which everyone wanted to hold and had a lavishing lifestyle. But the way you’ve got into my life changed me. The way you make me laugh without even saying a word, the way you look into my eyes made me realize that I am alive, I can laugh too and I’m worth something. Thank you for this.
I don’t know where I’m going now, but you’ll always be in my heart.

Yours
Pratibha”

THE END!
