I Love You Shivi!

I got smile back on my face. I was way too happy, so happy that I hugged her. And that was the first time I’d touched her. She hugged me back. That hug was compassionate, relaxing and warm. I felt special, secured and loved in her arms. Those were the moments I was first experiencing what love is!

We spent the night there, on the roof, just sitting and talking. We skipped our sleeps for that talk, and still none of us was seeming tired. And with the first ray of sun striking my face, I was all set to leave.

I came back to her at the same time and the daily chores begun. Everything was usual, as it was going on from the past few days.

But the day after, when I went to her place in the morning, her Aunt Maria came out.

“Shivangi said that she is absolutely fine now. Her leg isn’t paining and she can do all her work herself now. You are no longer required.” Her Aunt Maria said.

“But Mam can I meet her once.” I asked.

“No. She don’t wanna meet you now. You can go.” She said and shut the door on my face.

I was standing there, still, and trying to understand what just happened. “Everything was going on well between us. Not couples, but we were good friends. What happened to her all of a sudden? How can she do this?” I had a lot of questions in my mind and only one person could answer those, Shivangi.

A simple, sweet and sober love story: And That’s How It Was Meant To Be

I had no other way of meeting her. I couldn’t sneak in her house, so I just roamed around her house and the cafe in the hope of meeting her. But nothing was working on! I was quite tensed at that time. The girl who was taking me out of the worst phase of my life was now the leaving my life. And when I knew that she is the one, I simply couldn’t let her leave. But things were out of my control. And I was getting depressed. You know actually depression is like looking at a bright white paper but not being able to stare at anything but the black dot drawn on it. Despite all the positivity she brought in my life, I was just focusing on her absence; not being able to think anything else.

4 days past, when I woke up, I felt something new, as if she is there with me. I went to her home and cafe again but she wasn’t there. But that day, I was not in a mood of coming back sad again. I walked upto Ani and said, “Ani what’s going on?”

“What?” Ani asked.

“You know what.”

“Adi, what should I say man!”

“Say what is the truth. Where is Shivi? She isn’t coming to the cafe, may be not even coming out of the house and neither picking up my calls nor replying to messages. What’s going on yar..”

“Adi, you two can’t make a future together.”

“But why? My heart says that she is the one.”

“It isn’t like that man.”

“What’s the problem then.”

“I can’t tell you Adi. Please.”

“No. You’ve to let me know. I want to know this. I can’t leave her.”

“I can’t tell you this. I’m sorry!”

She stood up, and with moist eyes, she left. My questions went unanswered again.

“Is my failure the reason we can’t be together? But if she’s with me I’ll be successful. I need her. And yes, as she wanted, I’ll focus on positivity now.”

I sat down on the chair with tears rolling down my cheeks, saying, “I need you Shivi. Come back to me.”

Just then, I felt a hand on my shoulder. You know, as they show in the movies, you remember your love and they’ll appear from nowhere. I thought of that too, magic was happening with me. But as I looked up, I saw Aunt Maria standing there. I got scared and stood up. Magic only happens in movies!

“Don’t cry son!” She said. And it was the first time in the history of mankind that she was talking with someone so politely. I was silently standing there; magic was indeed happening to me.

“Come and meet her tomorrow at my place.” She said and my face brightened up. I went ahead to hug her, but just when I saw her face, I went down and touched her feet instead. And then I left saying a goodbye.

Next morning, I went to her place. The door, which was always locked from inside was left open and as I entered the house, Shivangi was sitting there.

I went ahead. She was sitting with her back towards the gate. As I went close to her, I called her name. She turned back, stood. That was the moment when wanted to say a lot, but somehow words weren’t enough. Her eyes went wet. She looked down and shed a tear. I held her face, she looked into my eyes, we both smiled and hugged. I guess we were in that position for more than 10 minutes.

“What’s going on Shivi? Why are you trying to distance yourself from me?”

“Adi. I’m sorry. But I can’t do this.”

“But why? I love you Shivi! Don’t you?”

“I love too Adi. But..”

“But what Shivi?”

“I’m suffering from brain tumor.”
